Our History
In 1972 The Bundaberg Australian Football League was formed it was an amateur competition which continued until 1986, before merging with the Wide Bay Australian Football League in 1987, this was the start of a new competition called the Bundaberg Wide Bay Australian Football League, now known as AFL Wide Bay.
The four foundation clubs in the bundaberg league were Burnett Heads, Southern Suburbs (South Bundaberg), Western Suburbs (West Bundaberg), and North Bundaberg.

Merger of Two Bundaberg Clubs (1997)
North Bundaberg Kangaroos played in the Wide bay competition from 1987 until 1996 before merging with South Bundaberg Magpies (ATW Magpies 1996).
From 1997 the new club was to be known as Across The Waves (ATW) Bundaberg – The Eagles. Finding a new home with The Waves Sports Club in 1997 the newly formed club won the A Grade Senior Flag in its first three seasons (1997-1999). The Waves Eagles AFL Club as its known today remains a successful and popular club in the region.
